FedEx Express Announces Domestic Shipping Service in Belgium

BRUSSELS, Mar. 28, 2013 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, is announcing the successful launch of FedEx Priority Overnight (FPO), its new domestic delivery service. Following a successful launch in Switzerland last year, this new, door-to-door, time-definite service has been extended into Belgium and six other European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Denmark and the Netherlands).

Transit times for the FedEx Priority Overnight service in Belgium are one business day for all envelopes and packages weighing up to 68kg. The new domestic service also has the added benefit of late cut off times for drop off and pick up, with offices staying open until6-8pm depending on the station.

“Introducing this domestic service offers our customers in Belgium a bundled solution, enabling them to have a single account and use a single pick up for both international and domestic deliveries,” said Patrick Stienlet, managing director, Operations, Benelux, FedEx Express. “Our aim is to provide improved services and greater flexibility for our customers.”

This latest service improvement builds on continued growth in Belgium demonstrating the company’s commitment to this market. Last September, the company opened a new station in Tongeren, in the Limburg region; the year before, it opened a state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly distribution center in Machelen.

Since 1985, Brussels has been home to the regional headquarters for EMEA. FedEx Express employs 924 team members in Belgium.
