Taipei, Taiwan, 22 June 2010– FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation company, recently delivered rare Buddhist artifacts from mainland China to Taipei for an exhibition at the Taiwan National Palace Museum. FedEx Express provided the necessary air and ground transportation and logistical support to ensure the safe and timely delivery of the sacred items.

The “Sacred Land Tibet – Treasures from the Roof of the World” exhibit, which will showcase the most complete collection of rarely-shown Tibetan Buddhist artifacts, will be held at the Taiwan National Palace Museum from 1 July to 19 September, 2010. The 130 art pieces, which include statues, paintings, mandalas and other sacred objects dating back to the 5th century, are drawn exclusively from special collections at museums in Tibet, Chengde and Beijing, as well as palaces and monasteries including the Potala Palace.

FedEx has a long history of using its extensive global network and expertise to transport rare and delicate cargo around the world. In February this year, FedEx delivered Tai Shan and Mei Lan, two giant pandas born in the US from Washington D.C., USA to Chengdu, China. Other unusual cargo that FedEx has transported include dinosaur fossils from, 40 tons of valuable artifacts from the doomed ocean liner RMS Titanic, and numerous types of animals including elephants, rhinos, jellyfish, lions, gorillas, eagles – even a 13-foot tiger shark used in filming the movie “Jaws.”

As a shipper of choice for rare and delicate cargo, FedEx has contributed towards cultural exchange across the strait. Over the last few years, FedEx transported jade buried suits and Terracotta warriors from Xinjiang and Xian, China, respectively, to Taiwan for special exhibitions at the Taiwan National Museum of History. In 2001, FedEx delivered 150 pieces of national treasures from Beijing’s Poly Museum to Taiwan.
