FedEx Delivers Joy to 14 Cities During FedEx Cares Week in India

MUMBAI, India, Oct.1, 2012 — Team members across FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company and a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), participated in the eighth annual FedEx Cares Week, which kicked off globally in the week of September 10, 2012. This is the second successful year in India and the third year for the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Indian subcontinent).

More than 4,000 FedEx volunteers worldwide donated their time and talents to serving local organizations, dedicated to improving the quality of life in the communities where FedEx team members live and work.

In India, approximately 1200 FedEx team members got involved in various activities with the community in 14 major cities, logging over 2800 hours of volunteer work. Some of the major activities undertaken during the week included:

  • Organizing a successful blood donation drive “Give Blood, Give Life” across all 14 cities, where 650 FedEx team members donated blood to support causes such as thalassemia, cancer patients, accident victims
  • Visiting old age homes and orphanages across all 14 cities, participating in donation drives during the week
  • Organizing a special screening of the latest Bollywood film ‘Barfi’ for the underprivileged street children in Mumbai
  • Launching a ‘Clean the City’ campaign in Lucknow and a special drawing competition for underprivileged children in Delhi

This year, FedEx employees in India are also participating in a onetime payroll giving activity. The amount collected will be donated to Make a Wish Foundation ® of India.

FedEx Cares Week in India complements a wide range of volunteer activities occurring in other EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) countries including Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom.
