FedEx Creates Emerging Fashion Exporter Support Scheme
Paris, le 3 octobre 2005 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation (NYSE: FDX), the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the FedEx UK Emerging Fashion Exporter Support Scheme, a new annual programme providing new British fashion designers with financial, logistics and global shipping assistance in their crucial early years.
The inaugural recipient, Zufi Alexander, is a growing name in luxury handbag design. Ms Alexander recently won the UK Fashion Exports (UKFE) New Exporter Award, also sponsored by FedEx Express, in May 2005. The Award was presented by HRH The Princess Royal, President of UK Fashion Exports. The winner of the UKFE New Exporter Award will now automatically benefit from FedEx’s new scheme.
Announcing the scheme, FedEx Express Managing Director, Sales & Marketing, UK & Ireland, Andrew Gosheron, said: “FedEx’s services have become increasingly important to today’s fast-paced, ever-changing fashion world. Designers depend on sourcing materials and distributing finished products all over the world. The scheme will help up-and-coming fashion designers understand the global supply chain.”
The winner will receive significant benefits under the FedEx scheme for a period of 12 months, including:
· financial support for shipping, travel and accommodation costs to exhibit at major fashion events in Europe, the United States and Asia
· access to high-level advice on shipping and supply-chain logistics from FedEx representatives
· mentoring from the previous year’s winner for the first three months.
