FedEx Canada Flies High with CF-18 Air Demonstration Team

TORONTO , Canada June 04, 2004 – Federal Express Corp. (“FedEx Express”), the world’s largest express transportation company, is pleased to sponsor the CF18 Hornet aircraft demonstration team for the 2004 Canadian airshow season. It is FedEx’s second year supporting the Canadian Air Force team, and the company is a longstanding supporter of airshows across Canada .


This year, the Canadian Air Force celebrates its 80th Anniversary. This occasion offers the opportunity to celebrate the Canadian Forces’ significant contribution to peace and security around the world.

“The CF-18 is one of the world’s finest multi-role jet fighters, able to carry out a myriad of air to air and air to ground missions. It is currently undergoing a major modernization program that will ensure the jet’s operational viability until the 2017 - 2020 time frame. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Canadian Air Force. This special occasion offers Canadians an opportunity to celebrate and pay tribute to all the men and women who have, and continue to proudly wear the Air Force uniform. It is an opportunity to reflect upon the heroic war and peacetime sacrifices of those who have paid the ultimate price and it allows us to honour the traditions and heritage of the Canadian Air Force. The 2004 CF-18 Demonstration Jet, flown by Capt “Super” Dave Pletz, performs an exciting and dynamic show. Master Corporal Yvan Cote, Master Corporal Rino Couterier, Corporal Alain Roy, and Corporal Gaetan Gaudreault join Capt Dave Pletz and together they are the 2004 CF-18 Air Demonstration Team.”
