FedEx Becomes a Certified Logistics Operator of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO)

The first certified courier company in Japan and the third AEO certification at FedEx

TOKYO, May 31, 2019 - FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), announced that it received the Logistics Operator certification from Tokyo Customs.
This certification is a category of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Program, which approves and certifies operators that have established operations for cargo security control and compliance with the laws and rules. FedEx participated in a ceremony on May 21 and received the certificate from the Director of Tokyo Customs.
The certification enables FedEx to apply the Specific Consignment Export Declaration System when transporting relevant export shipments using its network. By using the FedEx network from pickup to delivery, FedEx can better manage the quality of operations and security of shipments and related information, which results in more reliable service for customers.
Under the consignment of its exporter, the Specific Consignment Export Declaration System allows the transportation of relevant shipments located in places other than bonded areas to the airport for uplift. The system requires two certifications, Logistics Operator and Customs Broker, in the AEO Program to apply in the operation.
FedEx is the first courier company in Japan to receive the Logistics Operator certification. In the past, the company has received certification of Warehouse Operator in February 2012 and Customs Broker in June 2013. This is the third certification at FedEx in the AEO Program.
