FedEx appoints Eum-Mi Chae as new Managing Director of FedEx Korea

2006-08-17 - Seoul - FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has appointed Ms. Eun-Mi Chae as the new country MD of FedEx Korea, effective 1st September, 2006.

Ms. Chae is the first Korean female country MD to be appointed since the establishment of FedEx operations in Korea. In addition, it is the first time a Korean female MD has been appointed in a express shipping company in Korea.

David Carden who has been the former country MD of FedEx Korea since 2003 will assume the position of MD for Thailand and IndoChina from 1st September 2006.

Prior to this appointment, Ms. Chae was the MD for FedEx’s Human Resources for the North Pacific. She has chalked up a record of “first” in her career in the express shipping industry. This includes being the youngest department manager at the age of 28 while working for a domestic airline in Korea and being the first Korean to be appointed to the role of MD of Human Resources for FedEx North Pacific in 2004.

The Korean market is a very important market in our Asia Pacific and global network. FedEx’s success in Korea will contribute to the overall success in this region.”

Ms. Chae said “I am honored to be appointed to my new position. I am optimistic that even with the change in leadership in Korea, FedEx will continue to meet the needs of our customers, and contribute to the domestic trade industry by providing more enhanced services for local business.”

Ms. Chae joined FedEx in 1991 and has served in a variety of key positions including Senior Manager for Station Operations where she managed the Customer Service call center.

Ms. Chae has received two Five Star Awards, the highest FedEx recognition, in 2001 and 2003, Ms. Chae received her French education bachelor’s degree from Ewha Women’s university and also graduated with an MBA marketing master’s degree from Helsinki business school in 1999.
