BRUSSELS, November 15, 2013 - FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company and a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), is gearing up for the busiest day across Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa (EMEA) in the history of the company.
The busiest day for shipments coming into the region is expected on December 16, with a year-on-year increase of 3% and the busiest day for shipments going out from the region is expected to be December 17, increasing by 8.4% from last year.
FedEx Corp. will see almost 22 million packages move around the world on December 2. The date marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season and the busiest shopping day of the year. This is an 11% year-over-year increase on last year’s volume when 19.9 million shipments were processed. E-commerce is thriving globally at three to four times the rate of traditional retail buying in brick and mortar stores.
