FedEx signed on to the “Plan Espoir Banlieues” (“Hope Plan for Disadvantaged Suburbs”)

FedEx and about thirty companies signed the “Plan Espoir Banlieues” with Christine Lagarde, Minister of the Economy, Finances and Employment, and Fadela Amara, Secretary of State for the Minister of Housing and Town, in charge of Urban Policy.

For FedEx, this new initiative follows numerous actions the Company has taken since its establishment in France in 1985 in favor of the employment of young people from the neighborhood particularly surrounding its hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle. In 2006 FedEx in fact received the Diversity Grand Prize in the category “Partnership” for all its actions.

This « Plan Espoir Banlieues » has three main goals: to better satisfy companies’ recruitment needs, to highlight the skills existing in suburbs (sensitive urban areas) and to promote social cohesion.

At FedEx, 100 indeterminate-term jobs are implicated by this agreement in 2008; they are mainly in the sorting freight activity at its hub of Roissy-Charles de Gaulle.
