Frankfurt a. M., February 29, 2024 – FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, today announced the opening of an expanded, modernised facility in Karlsruhe. The new set-up is well equipped for the increased volume in recent years. As part of the expansion, FedEx Express has improved the PUD areas of Mannheim and Karlsruhe ensuring better delivery and cut-off times in the region.

The location in Karlsruhe has been expanded and modernised on the existing 3,600 square metre site. It has a higher handling capacity. At approx. 2,500 square metres, the warehouse is twice the size as before and has a truck loading ramp as well as 24 loading bays within the warehouse to load and unload shipments. The sorting process in the warehouse is largely automated compared to the previous set-up, which will reduce the sorting time by around a third and almost doubling the sorting capacity. The height-adjustable and extendable conveyor belt also facilitates the handling of consignments. Three new jobs were created as part of the expansion, meaning that 20 team members now work at the site.

“The facility in Karlsruhe offers our customers an even better service experience thanks to a modern infrastructure and optimised processes,” says Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Nordics for FedEx Express. “We look forward to supporting our customers in expanding their business.”
