London, August 13th 2014: FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, safely delivered former Tour de France champion Chris Froome’s bike from Edinburgh to Pangbourne, Berkshire, following an online auction for charity.

The 58cm carbon fibre Pinarello Dogma 2 bike was auctioned by owner Jackie Fraser to raise money for Action for Children, one of the UK’s leading children’s charities, achieving a total of £10,250.

The bike was originally used by Chris Froome in the 2012 Tour de France and travelled a distance of just under 400 miles before being safely delivered to its new owner, bicycle enthusiast Graham Child.

“We have a longstanding relationship with Action for Children. It is great to see the amount of money raised from this auction and we are delighted to be able to provide support once again for such a worthwhile cause,” says Trevor Hoyle, Vice President of Operations FedEx UK & Ireland. “It couldn’t be done without the help of our team members who give up their time for good causes throughout the year.”

“The support received from FedEx is invaluable as it allows us to successfully complete our charity projects,” says fundraising manager at Action for Children, Grant McFarlane.

FedEx Express delivered the bike free of charge and the money raised from the auction will be used to help vulnerable children across the UK. The proceeds from the auction are being shared between Action for Children, St. Wilfrid’s Hospice, Carers UK and Cerebra.
