Employees Deliver Helping Hands to Environmental Projects during FedEx Cares Week

HONG KONG, September 15, 2011 — FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYS: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, will kick off its fourth annual FedEx Cares Week in the Asia Pacific region. From September 17-25 FedEx volunteers in 12 Asia markets, including Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, will donate their time to community groups and programs. This is part of a global FedEx initiative involving almost 4,000 employees around the world.

FedEx Cares Week activities have a strong environmental focus. Around 1,000 FedEx volunteers across the region will support 35 local organizations in a range of community activities, including tree planting, gardening, and environmental protection education sessions for children. Other projects being supported include childcare activities, visits to elderly centers, and donations of books and stationary.

“FedEx Cares Week is a global show of unity and a demonstration of our continued dedication to the local communities in which we do business. Sustainability is a common social concern across Asia. We are continuing to build environmental responsibility into our daily business practices and our employee volunteers are actively engaged in instilling eco-awareness at the grass roots level in their local communities to help improve quality of life,” said David L. Cunningham Jr., president, FedEx Express Asia Pacific.

Since FedEx Cares Week first launched in the U.S. in 2005, it has expanded to more than 40 countries and territories around the globe. This year, FedEx Cares Week will be celebrated in the U.S. from September 12-18 and debut in Canada, Spain, Italy, India, the UAE and Switzerland. Together, FedEx volunteers around the world will donate a combined 20,000 hours to serving local organizations.
