Dress for Success, Roll Call and FedEx Announce Congressional Dress for Success Challenge

dress.jpg

The Senate and the House will face off to see who can outfit more Dress for Success D.C. clients during the Congressional Dress for Success Challenge. Honorary Chairs Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) and Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) challenge their fellow Members of Congress, staff and friends to donate suits, gently worn shoes and accessories to help Dress for Success DC clients. Dress for Success clients are often low-income women moving into the workforce, many for the first time.

The challenge begins at 8:30 am with buffet breakfasts at the Reserve Officers Association (Senate) and at Bullfeathers (House). There is no official program – just a buffet and “go-boxes” for folks to drop of suits, pick up breakfast and head back to their offices.

Sen. Landrieu will host the Senate breakfast. FedEx trucks and volunteers will be stationed at both locations throughout the day to collect donations.

FedEx is a national sponsor of Dress for Success. This event marks the fourth year FedEx has helped Dress for Success DC, collecting more than 1,500 items of clothing to date. Roll Call is the official media sponsor of the Challenge. The Ratner Companies (Hair Cuttery, Bubbles and Salon Cielo) will provide (House & Senate Ethics approved) gift bags. Charlie Palmer Steak will donate 10 percent of its lunch revenues on May 20 to Dress for Success DC.
