FedEx Express Launches Innovative Solutions Across Canada

MISSISAUGA, Ontario Feb. 13, 2014 – Federal Express Canada Ltd. (FedEx Express Canada), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) the world’s largest express transportation company, has expanded its award-winning* monitoring service, SenseAware™, for Canadian domestic shipping and unveiled two new solutions for temperature sensitive shipments.

The expansion of SenseAware to Canadian domestic shippers follows the solution’s launch for international lanes in November 2012. SenseAware is a multi-sensor device that provides shippers with near real-time information including GPS location, temperature, light exposure, barometric pressure, and relative humidity.

The Canadian domestic expansion coincides with the introduction of SenseAware to 13 additional countries in Europe, allowing more customers to monitor their most critical, high-value and time-sensitive shipments.

The expansion of SenseAware for intra-Canadian shipping is complimented with the introduction of two additional specialized shipping solutions: cold-shipping packages and thermal blankets.

FedEx® cold-shipping packages are the latest in packaging technology designed to help protect the integrity of packaging temperature-sensitive shipments such as medication. Available in different sizes, the innovative package technology is designed to maintain an internal temperature of 2-8 °C for up to 48 or 96 hours (depending on external temperatures) without gel packs or dry ice. The new cold shipping packages do not require refrigeration, frozen preparation, or “pre-conditioning”.
The FedEx® Thermal Blanket Solution covers shipments during transportation to help provide a more stabilized temperature environment . Customers can ship using the FedEx Thermal Blanket Solution without having to purchase blankets or invest in expensive packaging.
