FedEx is working directly with American Red Cross in coordinating transportation in response to the California wildfires. FedEx provides donated charity space and logistics to the Red Cross beginning in 1995 in both pro-active and reactive response. The Red Cross opened five shelters Sunday in Temecula, Escondido, San Diego, Santee and Spring Valley with an overnight population of more than 750 residents. The Red Cross is monitoring the changing patterns of the wildfires and the entire Disaster Response system is standing by to provide resources needed to help victims. FedEx will assist in moving cots, comfort kits and blankets into the area for use at shelters and evacuation centers.
FedEx encourages employees, contractors and customers who would like to help in this crisis to contact disaster relief organizations directly. We encourage monetary support rather than collections of new and used items due to logistical challenges at the disaster sites.
