KUALA LUMPUR, September 28, 2015 — Aptly themed, “Bridging the Gap – Delivering Hope to Marginalized Communities”, 132 FedEx Malaysia volunteers organized two outdoor picnics for 100 underprivileged children and delivered much-needed groceries to 63 families in Kuala Lumpur and Penang as part of FedEx Cares Week.
In collaboration with Food Aid Foundation (FAF), FedEx volunteers organized an outdoor picnic that included fun games like face painting and sing-along activity as well as a barbeque and finger foods for 70 mostly orphaned, abandoned, stateless or undocumented children from the Chow Kit area in Kuala Lumpur. In Penang, a similar outdoor picnic was held for 30 children from household income less than RM1,200 from Tanjung Tokong and Tanjung Bungah areas.
FedEx volunteers also packed and delivered two to three weeks’ worth of groceries to underprivileged families in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The initiative will give the beneficiaries the opportunity to use their grocery budget on other necessities such as education, health and improving amenities in their homes.

FedEx Cares Week has been held since 2008 in Asia Pacific. This year, around 1,100 FedEx volunteers in 12 Asia Pacific markets committed to 42 community activities from September 10 to November 7.
