FedEx Job Shadow Program Supports Local High School Students In Choosing Future Career Path

One-Day Career Experience at FedEx Allows High School Students to Experience Modern Work Environments and Professionalism


TOKYO, August 28, 2018 – FedEx Express (FedEx) a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), invited high school students to its North Pacific Regional Hub at Kansai International Airport and supported a one-day Job Shadow Program on August 23 where students had the opportunity to observe FedEx employees at work. The Job Shadow Program is designed to inspire students as they choose their courses and decide on a career path.

During the program, each of the 13 students from Joso Gakuen senior high school was paired with one FedEx employee and experienced a variety of employee roles and responsibilities. Through exchanges with the employees, students experienced modern work environments and had new and memorable experiences such as observing professional working attitudes and commitments.

Following the job shadowing with FedEx employees from customs clearance, flight operations, ramp operations and administration, a group discussion was held where the employees explained their personal journeys from their school days to their current career, inspiring students to think about their future career path.

A participant in the Job Shadowing Program commented, “I had never imagined the many responsibilities and processes required in a job and was amazed at how the employees handle multiple tasks at the same time. Many people from different departments and roles are involved in each process, and I felt their teamwork.”

The program was conducted by Junior Achievement Japan, an economic educational organization that supports the development of global talent and entrepreneurship by promoting programs for Japanese students. The Job Shadowing Program has been conducted at various offices and facilities in FedEx since 2007.
