Jakarta, Indonesia, February 20, 2023 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, is ramping up support for cross-border trade and creating more access for importers and exporters in Indonesia with the opening of its new bonded warehouse in Batam. The new facility offers enhanced capabilities that will benefit local businesses looking to access international markets, as well as support the growing demand for e-commerce shipments.

The warehouse in the new Batam facility is almost 80% larger than the previous one. Its location enables faster clearance of free-trade zone shipments, which is further supported by its auto-gate system, an automated import shipment declaration process, and an in-house customs office. These new facility features will help accelerate the processing of inbound shipments and enhance transit times. Indonesian businesses can also enjoy reliable one-stop-shop logistics services for all their dangerous goods including electronic gadgets with Lithium batteries.

“The government’s plan to transform Batam, the largest city in the Riau Archipelago, into a National Logistics Hub[1] will play an instrumental role in the economic growth of Indonesia,” said Garrick Thompson, Managing Director, FedEx Express Indonesia. “Our Batam facility reinforces our commitment to support the global expansion goals of the Indonesian government and give local businesses greater access to efficient logistics solutions and an enhanced service experience.”
