SINGAPORE, April 28, 2014— FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), and the world’s largest express transportation company, was named one of the eight winners of the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award at a ceremony held at Pan Pacific Hotel today.
Presented by the Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP), the TAFEP Exemplary Employer Award is a biennial award that recognises exemplary organisations that have effectively implemented fair, responsible and inclusive employment practices. Nominees of the award were assessed according to a list of criteria including fair and inclusive recruitment and retention practices, as well as initiatives to create a more diverse workforce.
“At FedEx, respect for all people is a fundamental value and an everyday business practice. Diversity is essential to our continued success in today’s ever-changing global marketplace and we have a culture that fosters diversity and provides our employees with equal opportunity to excel regardless of age and gender,” said Khoo Seng-Thiam, managing director, FedEx Express Singapore.
“We are honoured TAFEP recognises our efforts to build an inclusive culture. This award not only reflects FedEx commitment to our founding People-Service-Profit philosophy, it is also the result of the everyday actions of our people in creating a fair and inclusive workplace,” he added.
This is the second time FedEx has been recognized byTAFEP for its outstanding efforts in implementing fair employment practices. Last month, FedEx was ranked 8th in FORTUNE Magazine’s “World’s Most Admired Companies” survey, a list that FedEx has been featured in since 2001.
