Taipei, October 20, 2022 – FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, officially kicked off sponsorship of the seventh annual Taiwan University Student B2B Cross-border E-commerce Competition (hereinafter referred to as the competition), which was officially launched in mid-October for the third consecutive year. Together with the Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei, Chung-Hua International Trade Association, JIAYE Information Co., Ltd and other co-organizers, FedEx will help e-commerce companies recruit professionals.
Under the catalyst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the research unit Gartner estimates that by 2025, nearly 80% of the world’s B2B transactions will take place online . Looking to the future B2B trade market, the importance of cross-border e-commerce will increase, which means the demand for e-commerce talent by small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will also increase.
“According to the recent survey report on the future of e-commerce released by FedEx, 60% of e-commerce companies in the Asia-Pacific region believe that business operations are facing a talent shortage,” said Michael Chu, managing director of operations, FedEx Express, Taiwan. “Helping companies invest in digital transformation is a top priority for FedEx, and attracting talent with international vision and expertise in e-commerce is an important part of digital transformation. By sponsoring the Taiwan University Student B2B Cross-border E-commerce Competition, FedEx aims to help e-commerce companies in Taiwan quickly find suitable talent.”
Compared with previous years, the competition has attracted more types of manufacturers. In addition to the food, beauty, sports and textile industries, this year’s participating manufacturers include hardware, automobile, motorcycle accessories, medical equipment and other related manufacturers.
During the competition, each participating team will be composed of two to six college students and up to two instructors. Each team will be matched with an enterprise manufacturer to operate its online store on Alibaba.com. Under the guidance of FedEx and JIAYE Information Co., Ltd, there will be more than 70 B2B manufacturers and more than 300 college students working together to run businesses online. The participating teams will compete for the national championship for two months and will be judged based on indicators such as the number of orders, inquiries and click conversions.
This year, FedEx will provide a series of training courses with JIAYE Information Co., Ltd to help participating teams understand the professional details of international logistics and the management skills of B2B e-commerce. The course itself will focus more on the implementation of the e-commerce system, to help students quickly complete the product launch. In addition, FedEx will set up booths at the final site to hold one-on-one question and answer sessions about the international logistics industry for students. FedEx looks forward to deepening its interaction with students and helping young talent meet the needs of SMEs.
The Taiwan University Student B2B Cross-Border E-commerce Competition finals will be held in January 2023. Visit https://b2bhr.com.tw/Competition/News/7th-alibaba-b2b for more details about the competition.
