Bangkok – 25 April 2022 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, today announced the launch of its first zero-tailpipe emissions electric vehicles for use in Thailand. The first four electric vehicles, consisting of a midsize van, two full-size vans, and a 6-wheeler straight truck, began their deployment last month and will initially operate in Bangkok.

This is part of the FedEx Priority Earth initiative with vehicle electrification as one of the key areas in the company’s journey toward reaching its carbon neutral operations goal. The FedEx commitment to gradually reduce environmental impacts includes the goal of operating an all-electric global pickup and delivery (PUD) fleet by 2040. This will be carried out through a phased approach for FedEx Express: 50% of all new vehicle purchases are intended to be electric by 2025, rising to 100% by 2030.

“Our efforts to operate more sustainably apply in all areas throughout our network,” said Woon Tien Long, Managing Director Operations, FedEx Express Thailand. “As we mark 40 years in Thailand, this represents another step toward achieving our sustainability goals. At FedEx, with thriving e-commerce and our increased focus to support our customers’ growth plans, transforming our operations to be more sustainable has become significantly important now more than ever. We are working toward building the network for what’s next, and along with it, working to reduce our environmental impact, and this is clear proof of that.”

Celebrating its 40th anniversary in Thailand this year, FedEx is continuing to build on its long-term commitment to the country through job creation, infrastructure investments, support for communities where team members live and work, and fostering initiatives toward a more sustainable future.

Since the launch of local operations in 1983, FedEx has tripled in size and expanded to more than 400 motorized vehicles, 16 service centers, and 14 stations to date. With a tailored approach to using resources efficiently and responsibly by focusing on reducing, replacing, and revolutionizing both in the skies and on the ground, FedEx continually looks for ways to innovate and optimize its fleet.

The company is also focused on community outreach, with initiatives that have included the Adopt-A-School program with AMCHAM, FedEx Safe Kids program, and the Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge.
