FedEx Expands 2026 River Protection Initiative in Collaboration with All-China Environment Federation
Shanghai, China, June 9, 2026 — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has collaborated with the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF) to host a World Environment Day-themed event in Guangzhou and launch the 2026 " Together, Act for Good – Protecting One Kilometer of A River Course” environmental public welfare program. Building on the success and experience of last year’s program, the two parties will further expand the scope and impact of their conservation efforts, jointly explore new models for protecting river ecosystems, and contribute to watershed stewardship to the development of a Beautiful China.
The 2026 “Protecting One Kilometer of A River Course” program is scheduled to be carried out in eight cities, including Qingdao, Xiamen, Shenyang, Hefei, Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, and Shanghai. It will continue to deepen its core mission of “Enhancing Awareness of Water Environment Protection and Uniting Societal Efforts for Collaborative Governance,” while advancing coordinated river-protection actions across key areas such as water environment management, biodiversity conservation, and climate change response. Furthermore, this year’s program will place greater emphasis on the close connection between rivers and wetland ecosystems. Through diverse ecological conservation practices, the program aims to further embed the values of ecological civilization and promote the scientific and systematic restoration and upgrading of water ecosystems.
At the launch event, more than 30 volunteers entered the river wetland area to take part in science-based activities including wetland ecological patrols, planting wetland restoration vegetation, and building “Benjes hedges” as wildlife habitats. These activities provided hands-on opportunities to learn about ecological restoration concepts and methods, while enabling volunteers to participate directly in water ecosystem restoration and biodiversity protection.

“Corporate sustainability goes beyond the low-carbon transformation of our own operations. It is also about leveraging the power of business to foster positive change for both communities and the environment.” said Poh-Yian Koh, president of FedEx China.” Our renewed collaboration with ACEF for the ‘Protecting One Kilometer of A River Course’ program is both a commitment to our corporate social responsibility and a strategic innovation built upon our proven experience. By connecting enterprises, social organizations, and the public, we are extending environmental action from river conservation to the broader field of water-ecosystem protection. We hope our continued efforts will bring together more stakeholders across society to safeguard our shared source of life and our beautiful home.”
“Water ecosystem protection is an important part of ecological civilization, and it requires the collective participation of society as a whole. Last year, the strong support from FedEx demonstrated the unique value of corporate influence in mobilizing public engagement and advancing water ecology initiatives. This year, we will continue to deepen our cooperation by expanding the scope of activities and enriching opportunities for public engagement, further raising environmental awareness and fostering a conservation framework where everyone is involved and accountable,” said Li Ruidong, deputy secretary general of the All-China Environment Federation. “We look forward to working with FedEx to ensure that the protection of every kilometer of river becomes a powerful catalyst for shared social governance.”
In 2025, FedEx and ACEF jointly launched the inaugural “Protecting One Kilometer of A River Course” program, achieving remarkable results. The program covered 15 cities nationwide, with 30 volunteer activities attracting more than 3,000 volunteers. It translated water conservation concepts into nationwide action through specific efforts such as shoreline cleanups, soil and vegetation protection, water quality testing, and biodiversity conservation.
FedEx is steadily advancing toward its goal of carbon-neutral operations by 2040, while continuing to enhance the sustainability of its daily operations and support the sustainable development of the communities where it operates. In China, FedEx continues to optimize its operations by promoting fleet electrification, developing sustainable infrastructure, and fostering a culture of sustainability in the workplace. In addition to protecting river ecosystems, FedEx and the All-China Environment Federation have successfully held the “FedEx University Students Environmental Entrepreneurship Challenge,” encouraging universities and youth to take part in sustainable innovation and integrating entrepreneurship and sustainability into China’s youth talent development.
