FedEx Empowers Indonesia’s Next Generation of Global Entrepreneurs at the 2026
FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge

Six students earn a place at the Asia Pacific regional finals

Jakarta, Indonesia, 25 June 2026 Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, continues its long-standing commitment to youth empowerment through the 2026 FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC). This year’s challenge once again drew ambitious young entrepreneurs from across Indonesia, six of whom have earned the chance to represent the country at the Asia Pacific regional finals in Singapore this August.

Now in its 6th year, the FedEx/JA ITC program in Indonesia is designed to build entrepreneurial thinking and global business acumen among secondary school students. Delivered in collaboration with Prestasi Junior Indonesia, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing young Indonesians to succeed in a global economy, the program offers students a practical look at international trade through hands-on workshops and team-based challenges.

This year’s competition challenged students to develop a Market Entry Strategy Plan (MESP) for artificial intelligence (AI)-powered warehouse drones aimed at improving inventory accuracy and accelerating fulfillment speed in Vietnam’s rapidly growing e-commerce sector. Their ideas showcased critical thinking, creativity and a deep understanding of technology-led business solutions relevant to today’s global landscape.

The six students representing Indonesia at the 2026 regional finals are:

Additionally, it utilizes an Edge Capture workflow with a dual-camera system (RGB + IR depth) and an on-board mini-computer to process inventory data instantly in real-time, delivering up to 99.3%+ scanning accuracy without continuous cloud dependency.

At the regional finals, the Indonesian team will work alongside students from across Asia Pacific including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Competing internationally pushes students further than the classroom alone, giving them the chance to present their ideas before peers from a wide range of markets. Finalists will also meet FedEx leaders and industry practitioners, adding a real-world dimension to what they have learned.

“Indonesia is home to one of the largest and fastest-growing digital economies in the region, and the next generation will be the ones defining what that looks like. As technologies such as AI continue to reshape industries and transform how businesses operate, the ability to think critically and adapt quickly has never been more valuable,” said Garrick Thompson, managing director of FedEx Indonesia. “It has been encouraging to see students demonstrate exactly these qualities throughout this year’s challenge. We are proud to support a program that helps young Indonesians build the confidence and skills to compete and even lead on the global stage.”

“Real-world learning experiences are essential in preparing young people for an ever-changing future. Through the FedEx/JA International Trade Challenge, students are encouraged to think like global business leaders—identifying opportunities, solving problems, and collaborating across diverse perspectives. We hope this experience will inspire confidence and empower Indonesian youth to become innovators and leaders who are ready to thrive in the global economy,” said Utami Anita Herawati, Executive Director of Prestasi Junior Indonesia.

Since 2021, the FedEx/JA ITC program has reached over 3,212 Indonesian students, nurturing a generation of forward-thinking youth with the drive to innovate and lead. Over the years, Indonesian participants have also made their mark on the regional stage, with Indonesian students earning three Top 3 placements across the 2021 and 2023 regional finals. These achievements reflect the strong, ongoing collaboration between FedEx and Prestasi Junior Indonesia in fostering innovation and preparing tomorrow’s leaders.
