SYDNEY, 12 December 2022 – FedEx Express Australia and FedEx Express New Zealand (“FedEx”), subsidiaries of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, participated in various clean-up initiatives in local communities.

Employees and their families in Australia came together to clean waterways around Plane Spotting Beach, Kyeemagh (Sydney) and Suttons Beach, Redcliffe (Brisbane). This clean-up was part of Conservation Volunteers Australia’s (CVA) End of Year Clean Up Challenge and wrap up of 2022 FedEx Cares activities.

In addition, team members planted over 8,500 seedlings, freed 1,500 young native trees from strangling weeds, and removed over 250 kilograms of litter from waterways across Australia and New Zealand.

These efforts are a culmination of employee-led environmental events held in 2022 as part of the FedEx Cares global program.

In total, 190 FedEx team members dedicated more than 660 man hours to CSR activities which included waterway clean-ups, tree plantings, litter collection and plant maintenance programs in various cities, such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Auckland.

“FedEx is creating possibilities not only for our customers but for those in our communities. Our team members are passionate about making a positive impact and contributing to societal needs. Sustainability is a common social concern and our volunteers have been actively engaged in efforts at the grass roots level to protect our environment,” said Peter Langley, Vice President, FedEx Express Australasia. “At FedEx, fostering a strong spirit of volunteerism among all team members is part of who we are and what we do. It contributes to making FedEx a great place to work and we are proud of our team members for volunteering their time to make our communities more liveable.”

In 2020, FedEx launched its FedEx Cares 50 by 50 program, with a goal of bringing hope and new possibilities to 50 million people by the company’s 50th anniversary in 2023. Through the end of May 2022, the company had helped approximately 40 million people through a range of organizations and programs. From local volunteer events (including those mentioned above) to multi-million-dollar global programs, FedEx Cares combines the company’s resources, expertise, and passion of team members to address social needs.
