Singapore, October 12, 2021 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies announced four additional weekly flights from Singapore to Sydney, Australia, doubling flight operations between the two countries to eight flights per week. This expansion of our operational strength will better support businesses and exporters with increased and reliable capacity as they trade between Singapore and Australia. Australia is currently Singapore’s fourth-largest trading partner for exports[1]. Singapore is also Australia’s largest two-way trading partner[2].
“We are committed to helping our customers accelerate their e-commerce businesses and ship more effortlessly as consumer demand evolves. The increase in operational capacity and flight expansion between Singapore and Sydney further aid the strong trade relations between the two countries. More cross-border flights mean that small and medium enterprises can look forward to greater e-commerce growth opportunities, with stronger and more frequent access to online shoppers overseas,” said Audrey Cheong, regional vice president, Southeast Asia operations, FedEx Express.
The increase in flights will enhance the movement of goods between both countries and tap into the high e-commerce potential of both economies. Valued at US$25.7 billion in 2020[3], Australia is the eleventh largest e-commerce market in the world, while the Singapore Business to Consumer (B2C) e-commerce market is worth $4.9 billion[4].
