SEOUL, Aug. 8, 2011—FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, hosted a summer baseball event with sponsored team SK Wyverns at the Incheon Munhak Baseball Stadium on Saturday, August 6th.
Billed as a ‘Thrifty Vacation’ – or an economical way to spend a fun day out close to home—more than 250 FedEx customers and their families were invited to the event. The match between SK Wyverns and Kia Tigers provided the main entertainment, with other fun activities taking place around the stadium including the ‘Homerun King’ game, a watermelon eating contest and the distribution of autographed baseballs.
The ’Thrifty Vacation‘ was designed to promote FedEx International Economy® (IE), the company’s more economic delivery option, which is available as an alternative to its premium priority service.
“There’s nothing like spending time with your friends and family while watching a baseballgame on a summer‘s day,“ said Eun-mi Chae, managing director of FedEx Korea. “I hope our customers enjoyed themselves as well as learned more about the benefits of our very reasonably priced International Economy service.“
FedEx has organized many baseball events since signing an agreement in June 2008 to co-market and sponsor SK Wyverns. These events include a baseball clinic for a youth baseball team and a baseball dinner for corporate customers.
FedEx International Economy® (IE) service is an economical alternative for less-urgent shipments that offers the same quality, service and reliability as its premium product. Launched throughout the Asia-Pacific region in January 2008, IE typically takes 2-5 business days for delivery and is available at more competitive rates than FedEx International Priority® (IP) service
