FedEx cultivates cross-border e-commerce talent in Taiwan and boosts competitive edge for small businesses
FedEx will launch the 5th Taiwan University Student B2B Cross-Border E-Commerce Competition to support Taiwan’s e-commerce industry growth
Taipei, Oct. 7, 2020 - FedEx Express (FedEx), a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, is hosting the 5th Taiwan University Student B2B Cross-border E-commerce Competition which kicks off on October 24, 2020. FedEx is joining with the Importers and Exporters Association of Taipei (IEAT), Chung-Hua International Trade Association (CITA) and other co-organizers for the event.
The competition aims to equip young people with practical experiences in cross-border e-commerce and cultivate cross-border e-commerce talent in Taiwan. Through a series of practical workshops supported by FedEx and Alibaba.com - the designated e-commerce platform - participants will gain first-hand knowledge and experience in how to run a B2B cross-border e-commerce business.
Tertiary-level students from across Taiwan are eligible to join the competition. Each team will include approximately seven students and up to two teachers. The organizer will facilitate the matching of the teams with a small business owner. Under the guidance of FedEx and Alibaba.com, the student team will help run the business on Alibaba.com for the respective small business owner for two months. Teams will be judged based on their performance in various areas, such as number of orders, inquiries, click conversions and e-store design. The top eight teams with the highest scores will enter the finals and prepare a presentation to compete for the final prize.
“In the current COVID-19 pandemic period, FedEx is committed to helping our youth understand the potential of e-commerce for businesses, particularly with the pandemic reshaping the global business environment,” said Michael Chu, managing director, FedEx Express, Taiwan. “We are very excited to be part of the 5th University Student B2B Cross-border E-commerce Competition and helping to inspire the younger generation with know-how and skills in cross-border e-commerce.
