Bangkok, Thailand: 18 August, 2026 – Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has signed a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mirror Foundation to advance community and environmental initiatives that create livelihood opportunities for elderly and unhoused individuals across Thailand.
The MoU brings together FedEx logistics network and employee volunteerism with the Mirror Foundation’s extensive experience supporting vulnerable communities in Thailand. Together, the organizations will develop programs that address social and environmental challenges while generating sustainable income opportunities and fostering greater social inclusion.
Thailand is undergoing a significant demographic transition, with people aged 60 and above now representing more than one-fifth of the population.[1] As the country continues to age, many older adults face increasing financial pressures driven by limited income sources and rising living and healthcare costs. At the same time, unhoused individuals continue to encounter barriers to stable employment and economic participation. These challenges highlight the growing need for cross-sector collaborations that create practical pathways to income generation while strengthening community resilience.
To mark the signing of the MoU, FedEx and the Mirror Foundation introduced three one-off initiatives designed to generate livelihood opportunities and encourage community participation:
- Waste recycling program – FedEx employees and customers nationwide donated 50 kilograms of recyclable materials, including milk cartons, boxes, and pallets. Community members sorted the materials, which were then sold to certified recycling facilities, creating income-generating opportunities while supporting responsible waste management.
- FedEx Run – The 5-kilometer charity run, attended by employees and customers, raised almost THB 110,000 with all proceeds directed to the program.
- Purple Promise Bliss drink – Inspired by FedEx’s Purple Promise of making every FedEx experience outstanding, the limited-edition beverage was created in collaboration with Jones’ Salad. For every drink sold, THB 10 was donated to the Mirror Foundation, generating total contributions of over THB 22,000 for the initiative.
Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate how businesses, nonprofit organizations, and local communities can work together to create meaningful social impact through recycling, fundraising, and purpose-driven collaboration.
“As Thailand’s population ages and more communities face economic uncertainty, it is becoming increasingly important for businesses, nonprofits, and communities to work together to create meaningful opportunities for those who need them most,” said Sasathorn Phaspinyo, managing director, FedEx Thailand. “Through this MOU, we hope to support initiatives that make a real difference in people’s daily lives and help strengthen their financial resilience over time.”
“Addressing complex social challenges requires collaboration between the private sector and community organizations,” said Sittiphol Chuprajong, Board Member, The Mirror Foundation. “Through this MOU, we can combine our respective strengths to create initiatives that generate income opportunities while encouraging greater community participation and environmental responsibility.”
The MoU builds on a collaboration that began with the Purple Tote Program in 2024 and expanded in 2025 to support flood-affected communities in Southern Thailand. It also advances the goals of FedEx Cares, the company’s global community engagement program, which leverages the company’s logistics expertise, resources, and employee volunteerism to help address pressing social and environmental challenges. By expanding livelihood opportunities, fostering community participation, and promoting responsible recycling practices, the partnership reflects FedEx commitment to building more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient communities in Thailand and around the world.
