SHANGHAI, Nov. 23, 2009 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, and the China Badminton Team today joined Safe Kids Worldwide, a global non-profit organization, to promote the Safe Kids Walk This Way program at the Sakura Garden Primary School in Shanghai.

The China Safe Kids Walk This Way Ambassador, Li Yongbo, head coach of the China Badminton Team, joined four members of the China Badminton Team and seven FedEx volunteers to teach road safety lessons to about 100 primary school students through interesting, interactive games.

“As the number of cars on our streets increases, the safety of our children becomes more and more important,” said Li Yongbo, head coach of the China Badminton Team. “Through Safe Kids Walk This Way program, we hope to share important pedestrian safety tips with children so that they can walk to school armed with key principles such as “Stop, Look, Cross.” We also hope to increase parents’ peace of mind when their children are going to and from school.”

Li Yongbo began serving as the “China Safe Kids Walk This Way Ambassador” in 2006. Ever since, he and the China Badminton Team have played a leading role in promoting the Safe Kids Walk This Way program to raise social awareness of pedestrian safety for kids.

FedEx and Safe Kids Worldwide launched the Walk This Way program in the U.S. in 1999 to promote safety awareness for children all over the world. Since it was introduced to China in April 2004, the program has sponsored safety education for more than 1.4 million students through in-school programs.

FedEx has been a main supporter of the China Badminton Team since 2005. FedEx has been cooperating with the team not only in brand promotion, but also in giving back to the community through various charitable initiatives.
