Taipei, April 26, 2024 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, joins hands with the World Peace Association (WPA) to initiate road safety education workshops for children in rural schools in Taiwan. Schools include Minyi Elementary School in New Taipei City and Zhuwei Elementary School in Taoyuan City. The program aims to raise awareness of road safety and build a safer society for the next generation through both online and offline activities. FedEx and the WPA counseled nearly 150 children in rural areas on traffic safety. In addition, FedEx donated nutritious food boxes to 150 children around six counties and cities in rural areas, further helping local Taiwanese children.

According to the statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications[1], the number of traffic casualties among children 12 years and under in Taiwan has been increasing in recent years, with 11,858 children injured in 2023, representing a year-on-year increase of nearly 2,600 children. In 2024, FedEx volunteers are not only teaching the children about traffic safety through picture book reading, but also assisting them in recognizing different traffic signals and identifying traffic violations through the “Road Safety Monopoly Game.”

“Since 2021, FedEx has been supporting the World Peace Association to hold road safety workshops. Through the program, FedEx not only fulfills our commitment to caring for Taiwan communities, but also works on building a safer society for the next generation,” said Michael Chu, managing director of operations, at FedEx Express, Taiwan. “We are familiar with the importance of road safety and are eager to further partner with World Peace Association. Together, we aim to conduct additional road safety workshops enriched with creative activities, reinforcing our commitment to safeguarding Taiwan through actionable measures.”

FedEx began its operations in Taiwan in 1990 and has been active for over 30 years. In addition to providing professional transportation services, FedEx has practiced ‘Drive forward. Give back.’ by investing efforts and resources in Taiwan to enhance social welfare and support for the underserved to give back to Taiwan society.
