Shanghai, December 18, 2024 – Federal Express Corporation (“FedEx”), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has introduced a new flight route to further strengthen connectivity between China, India, and Europe. This enhances flexibility and operational efficiency for Chinese customers, particularly across critical trade lanes like Intra-Asia and Europe.
This new flight route connects FedEx’s Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou, China, to Bangalore, India, the UAE, and onward to Liege and Paris in Europe, operating five times a week, providing businesses with enhanced flexibility during the critical holiday peak season. Customers benefit from the new flight route with reduced transit times by one day, ensuring next-day delivery to South India[1]—a critical advantage for the high-tech and automotive industries in the region. Moreover, this network adjustment allows businesses in China to manage imports and exports to and from India and Europe with increased service reliability.
China tops in terms of the contribution rate to global export growth[2], with its total import and export value expanded 4.9% to RMB 39.79 trillion in the first eleven months of 2024[3]. The Asia-to-Europe corridor remains one of the world’s busiest[4], with China leading in exports of machinery, electronics, and high-tech goods, which make up a large portion of the region’s exports.
To meet the growing demands of the Asian market, FedEx has also introduced service enhancements for outbound shipping from China to Jakarta, Indonesia, and Johor Bahru, Malaysia, reducing delivery times by one day and 2.5 hours respectively. By enabling Chinese companies to operate with greater efficiency and flexibility, these enhancements unlock the region’s vast growth potential, strengthen economic integration across Asian markets, and foster a more dynamic and vibrant global trade environment.
Additionally, FedEx has improved the export clearance process for high-value shipments (Cat-D), reducing transit times by one day for shipments from South China to Asia and Europe via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. This upgrade enhances the efficiency gains brought by the new flight routes and service enhancements, empowering customers in South China to capitalize on opportunities in the dynamic and fast-paced international markets.
“China’s thriving foreign trade, particularly with key markets in Asia and Europe, highlights the importance of a resilient global network to foster sustained growth, especially during the peak holiday season,” said Poh-Yian Koh, Senior Vice President of FedEx and President of FedEx China. “By enhancing our air network and services, we can provide innovative and flexible logistics solutions that seamlessly connect China to global markets, empowering Chinese businesses to succeed internationally.”
In addition to enhancing connectivity, FedEx continues to develop digital solutions to help customers navigate the global marketplace. The FedEx Ship Manager™ allows small businesses and e-commerce merchants to manage shipments online. Customers can also use FedEx Ship Manager Lite on mobile devices for making convenient shipping arrangements. Additionally, FedEx applies machine learning to provide a four-hour window for incoming deliveries[5], with the goal of improving customer experience. With continuous investments in technology and infrastructure, FedEx is committed to supporting Asia Pacific businesses in strengthening their positions in the global manufacturing and trade.
