Bangkok, Thailand, May 8, 2024 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, recently collaborated with the World Vision Foundation of Thailand to raise awareness on waste management in rural areas of Thailand.

As part of the FedEx Cares program, about 40 volunteers from FedEx Thailand teamed up to instill the importance of environmental protection to the Pa Deng community of Phetchaburi Province, which is home to 10 villages and approximately 7,000 residents. FedEx donated three environmentally friendly waste incinerators and three units of biogas systems to replace traditional waste disposal practices such as open-air incineration and landfills. The new incinerators and systems will significantly reduce toxic emissions and provide a sustainable solution for organic waste decomposition. FedEx volunteers also provided guidance on proper waste segregation and shared best practices on reusing, recycling, recovering, and upcycling used materials to local communities.

“At FedEx, we are committed to connecting people with possibilities in responsible and resourceful ways, while promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship in local communities,” said Sasathorn Phaspinyo, managing director of FedEx Express Thailand. “I am thrilled to see our team members volunteering their free time to support meaningful programs that contribute to sustainable development and a cleaner environment for our future generations.”

“Through collective action and partnership, we can empower communities to overcome challenges for a more sustainable future,” said Rosalin Kowae, Programme and Support Services Director, North & Central, World Vision Foundation of Thailand. “We are grateful for the collaboration between FedEx and the Pa Deng Subdistrict Administrative Organization in advancing our shared goals of sustainability and community well-being,”

Promoting a more sustainable future in Thai communities aligns with the company’s goal of achieving global carbon-neutral operations by 2040. FedEx has a tailored approach to efficient and responsible resource management that focuses on reducing, replacing, and revolutionizing practices in both its air and surface operations. Specific initiatives include fuel-saving programs, vehicle electrification, investments in renewable energy, and employing sustainable packaging solutions.
