BANGKOK, THAILAND, August 10, 2026 — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, collaborated with the Raks Thai Foundation to support mangrove restoration efforts in Thailand through its global FedEx Cares program. As part of the initiative, 50 FedEx volunteers planted 2,000 mangrove trees, cleaned the coastline, and released 200 crabs to support coastal restoration and biodiversity conservation.
Coastal erosion remains a significant environmental challenge in Thailand, particularly along the Inner Gulf of Thailand where the Bang Pu center is located. The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources identifies Samut Prakan[1] as one of the provinces with areas affected by severe coastal erosion, where average shoreline retreat exceeds five meters a year. Mangrove forests help reduce wave energy, stabilize coastlines and provide important habitats for marine life while supporting biodiversity.
The activity was held during FedEx Purple Week as part of the FWS Day of Service, which was launched this year to honor the legacy of FedEx founder Frederick W. Smith and encourage team members to give back to their communities.
