Taipei, April 11, 2023 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, once again joins hands with the World Peace Association (WPA) to initiate a road safety education campaign ahead of the company’s 50th anniversary. The goal of the program is to bring road safety awareness to children and help build a safer society for the next generation.

FedEx kicked off its “50 Days of Caring " countdown initiative in February of this year. By April 17, 2023, which is the day FedEx celebrates its 50 years of operation, team members will be giving back to their communities through service projects around the world. In response to this global initiative, this year FedEx will collaborate with the WPA to hold a road safety workshop offline in Taiwan for the first time since the pandemic eased. Through picture book reading and interactive activities, knowledge about traffic safety will be conveyed to the children. In addition, FedEx volunteers will teach children the concept of sustainable logistics through lively interactive Q&As. The idea of environmental protection can be deeply rooted in the learning stage of children.

The first road safety workshop of the year was successfully concluded on April 10 at Guishan Elementary School in New Taipei City. This year’s workshop activities will continue in other rural elementary schools in Taiwan. Throughout the year of the program, it is expected that 80 children will participate and benefit from it. In addition to organizing activities, FedEx will donate 150 nutritious food boxes to the WPA to help feed children in rural areas so they can study with peace of mind.

“FedEx is very honored to work with the WPA again this year and continue to promote the awareness of road safety through activities,” said Michael Chu, managing director of operations, at FedEx Express, Taiwan. “According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, in the past five years an average of 25 children under 12 were injured or suffered a fatality every day due to traffic accidents. As a logistics provider, FedEx understands the urgency of improving this issue, and hopes to bring safety awareness tothe next generation of children through entertaining ways.”

To bring a positive impact to the global community, FedEx launched the FedEx Cares 50 by 50 engagement program in 2019, aiming to deliver hope, change, and new possibilities for 50 million people by the company’s 50th anniversary.. As of April this year, FedEx has reached and exceeded this goal and will continue to devote itself to serving communities around the world in the future.

Aside from the Road Safety Workshop, during the past 30 years of operation in Taiwan, FedEx has dedicated efforts and resources to showcase its commitment to the communities it serves. FedEx supported refurbishing the outer walls of a local elementary school, delivering goods to underprivileged children, and will continue to help disadvantaged children build their self-confidence and living skills. FedEx will continue contributing resources to Taiwanese communities through charitable activities whenever possible.
