MANILA, PHILIPPINES, January 18, 2023 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, collaborated with Mori Notes to breathe new life into old uniforms as part of its sustainability initiatives. A total of 157 uniforms were transformed by Mori Notes into brand new FedEx organizers, which will be used as gifts to customers.
“As part of our commitment to positively impact our local communities, we are constantly incorporating sustainable solutions into more facets of our operations, including waste management,” said Maribeth Espinosa, Managing Director, FedEx Express Philippines. “Upcycling our old uniforms into FedEx-branded items is just one of the ways we can reduce waste and save precious resources.”
In March 2021, FedEx Express announced its goal to achieve carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. The company has been focused on its sustainability efforts following a “Reduce, Replace, Revolutionize” approach. This includes reducing emissions and waste, replacing older technologies and vehicles with more efficient ones, and revolutionizing our operations with new technologies. With combined efforts from across the globe, FedEx was able to reduce its emissions intensity on a revenue basis by 45% from FY2009 through FY2021, a period when average daily package volumes grew by 180%[1].
Last year, FedEx discontinued the production of all seasonal paper products and printed calendars used in customer gifting in the AMEA region and instead introduced a new AMEA sustainability customer engagement program. Through this, we are planting 48,000 trees to honor our FedEx customers as they join us in our focus on environment protection.
