Taipei, December 28, 2021 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has jointly initiated a road safety education campaign with World Peace Association (WPA). Through this campaign, FedEx is bringing road safety awareness to children to help build a safer society for the next generation.
In 1999, FedEx started working on keeping kids safe from preventable road injuries on a global level and engaged over 5,000 Asia-Pacific team members for assistance. FedEx team members supported road-safety related events and activities that reached more than 7.6 million kids from more than 15,000 schools in the region.
This year in Taiwan, FedEx joins hands with WPA for the first time to organize a series of activities. This includes reading picture books and interactive activities to educate children on traffic signs and rules. Keeping safety in mind during the pandemic, activities are designed in a combination of physical and virtual events. FedEx volunteers can interact with children through video calls and e-learning tools whenever possible.
The campaign series includes three workshops in Dacheng Elementary School in New Taipei City, Waishe Elementary School in Taoyuan City and Shuimei Elementary School in Taoyuan City from October to December 2021. In total, 80 elementary school students have benefited from the campaign.
“At FedEx, we strive to show that “Safety above all” is our core belief. We are familiar with the importance of road safety, and we believe we can help children through road safety education,” said Michael Chu, managing director operations, FedEx Express, Taiwan. “We look forward to continuing the cooperation with World Peace Association in the future to help more children. I’d also like to thank all the participation of FedEx colleagues who delivered the Purple Promise by making a difference in the lives of these children. Let us make the world a better place together.”
FedEx is committed to helping local society and communities, especially addressing the social needs of children and underprivileged people. During the past 30 years of operation in Taiwan, FedEx has dedicated efforts and resources to showcase our commitment. For example, we supported refurbishing the outer walls of a local elementary school, delivered goods to underprivileged children and will continue to help underprivileged children build their self-confidence and life skills. FedEx will continue contributing resources to Taiwanese neighborhoods through charitable activities whenever possible.
