Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, November 3, 2026 — Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a further two years, reaffirming their shared commitment to helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) expand internationally.

Under the renewed collaboration, FedEx and MATRADE will jointly deliver industry programs, knowledge-sharing initiatives and business engagement activities aimed at strengthening exporters’ understanding of international trade. The collaboration will also facilitate the exchange of information on market opportunities, trade requirements and global supply chain considerations, helping Malaysian SMEs build better confidence and capabilities for international expansion.

“Expanding into international markets requires more than a competitive solution, businesses need access to the right knowledge across borders. Through our renewed collaboration with MATRADE, we are helping Malaysian SMEs better understand international trade, navigate evolving market requirements and unlock growth opportunities across the world. Together, we aim to equip businesses with the capabilities they need to compete and thrive in the global economy,” said Tien Long Woon, managing director, FedEx Malaysia.

“Empowering our Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to navigate the global market is central to MATRADE’s mandate. We are grateful to have FedEx as a strategic partner under the MATRADE ACADEMY initiative. This collaboration is vital for nurturing and developing our MSMEs through focused capacity building, equipping them with critical insights, global logistics expertise, and practical knowledge on exports. By accelerating their export readiness, we aim to elevate the global competitiveness of our local businesses so as to enable them to immerse into the global supply chain and eventually to increase MSMEs’ contribution to Malaysia’s exports,” said Dato’ Indera Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer, MATRADE.

The MOU was exchanged at the MATRADE ACADEMY Strategic Networking Ceremony at Menara MATRADE in Kuala Lumpur. MATRADE ACADEMY is a collaboration between MATRADE and the public and private sectors to offer 16 capacity-building modules for exporters, covering areas such as export readiness, logistics and digital trade. The programme prepares MSMEs that have not yet exported to enter international markets and helps existing exporters reach more markets.

The renewal builds on the MOU first signed in September 2024, which brought together MATRADE’s export development expertise and FedEx’s global transportation network. Since then, the collaboration has supported Malaysian businesses through more than 10 activities, including export-focused events, logistics facility tours and educational workshops, to strengthen their understanding of international trade and supply chain best practices.

The collaboration is complemented by FedEx’s ongoing investments in strengthening Malaysia’s connectivity to key international markets. In August 2026, FedEx introduced a new non-stop freighter service between Guangzhou, China, and Sydney, Australia, enhancing network connectivity for Malaysian businesses trading with Australia. This follows the launch of a dedicated Guangzhou–Penang cargo service in November 2025,further supporting cross-border trade and improving access to regional and global markets for Malaysian exporters.
