BANGKOK, TH., AUGUST 2, 2022 – FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, together with Junior Achievement Thailand, announced the winners of the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) Thailand 2022. The winners will advance to the FedEx/JA ITC Asia Pacific regional competition to be held in August 2022.

This year’s three winning teams are:

1. Life Pow! - Pirachat Karnasuta and Supaseth Julerttrakul have a mission to turn natural water sources into drinkable water to improve people’s lives and access to clean water. They came up with the idea of “Life Pow!”, a powder capable of purifying dirty water into clean and drinkable water.

2. Seelie’s Mangosteen - Constantinos John Karamanos and Jeffrey Benjakul Adolf targeted the health conscious and proposed an organic Mangosteen Health Drink.

3. Meilife - Chotika Owarang and Sapanna Rangputtipong have a mission to support mothers of all ages and backgrounds in Cambodia through a kit made specifically for mothers who choose to give birth at home.

Due to COVID-19 public health guidelines, the 2022 program was held virtually, with three workshops in Thailand conducted through self-learning online sessions. Eight teams were shortlisted to compete in the Thailand local finals. The topic was: “Create a market entry strategy for a health product” with Cambodia as the target market. The winners were selected by a panel of judges based on the validity of the business ideas, strategy, creativity, and presentation skills.

“The projects submitted by our Thai students reflect their creativity and impressive capabilities to create innovative and original business plans. I am proud to see their resilience and strength in the face of the ongoing pandemic,” said Tien Long Woon, managing director, FedEx Express Thailand. “FedEx is proud to continue to inspire Thailand’s future leaders through the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge. We are committed to fostering education, promoting global trade and entrepreneurship, and strengthening ties with the local communities in Thailand.”

In the upcoming virtual ITC regional finals, the three winning teams from Thailand will go up against 54 counterparts from nine other countries. Students from different countries/territories will be shuffled and paired with other finalists to encourage inter-country collaboration.

Now in its 16th year, the FedEx/JA ITC aims to educate and inspire young entrepreneurs aged between 16-19 years to showcase their innovation and creativity in international trade through practical teamwork and classroom learning. The three key activities consist of the local International Trade Program workshops, local International Trade Challenge finals, and the regional International Trade Challenge finals. In Thailand, more than 1,700 students have participated in the workshops and over 60 have taken part in the Asia Pacific finals since the program started in 2007.

About the FedEx Express/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge

Designed to foster business knowledge through practical teamwork exercises and classroom learning, the FedEx Express/ Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC) program comprises three key activities: the local International Trade Program workshops, local International Trade Challenge finals, and the regional International Trade Challenge finals.

In Thailand, the International Trade Workshop was held virtually this year. More than 100 students participated and learned from speakers and business volunteers. The speakers shared both theories and real-life experience to equip students with an understanding of international trade. In addition, FedEx Express employees volunteered as judges to select the market entry strategy plans developed by the students.

To enter the FedEx/JA ITC, students must develop a specific product or service and create an original international marketing plan for a designated country/territory. Through this process, students gain first-hand experience of what roles world trade, product distribution and sales play in a market environment. In addition to this, participating students learn the basics of risk evaluation in the business world and gain confidence in their analytical ability.
